Senior Technical Manager (fulltime)

We are looking for a highly experienced, passionate and critical-thinking Senior Technical Manager who will be the technical lead on all our arena productions, both newly created and returning for an additional season. You will be part of the international production team of Holiday on Ice, based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. Our ideal candidate has a proven track record in the production of large-scale live entertainment, preferably in arenas.

Candidates should be driven to deliver all technical aspects of world class live entertainment on a large scale. Strong communication as well as interpersonal and project management skills are a must.

What will you be doing

  • Production of our yearly new arena ice skating show, including the technical development of the sets and props, rigging plots, rental of technical materials, special effects and more
  • Implicating all developed technical aspects of the show on site during the 8-week rehearsals of our show and the first weeks of touring in arenas
  • Working closely with designers and other creatives on the development of the show
  • Working together with the production team on the production of the show
  • Working with outside suppliers and vendors for all technical aspects of the show, including sets, props, special effects, rigging, sound, light, pyro and other technical equipment
  • Making sure the show is able to tour easily and can function within the parameters of the arenas, crewing, load in / out schedules and other determining factors
  • Create technical production timelines and ensure that all technical elements of our shows are on schedule
  • Making sure all financial aspects of the technical production will stay on budget, as allocated by our producers
  • Leading the technical production of remounts of shows that will tour for additional seasons
  • Managing our technical stage managers who are on tour and lead the technical running of our shows on site
  • Overseeing the technical performance of our shows from head office and on site during tours in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and France

What you bring

  • At least 5 years experience in a leading project management technical role in live entertainment
  • Working on large scale live entertainment is a must, working on arena shows and / or ice shows is a plus
  • Experience in working with outside vendors and suppliers in the creation of live shows
  • Knowledge in the technical production process of creating new live shows on a large scale
  • Detailed knowledge of all technical aspects of touring arena shows, including rigging, lighting, sound, automation, special effects, sets, props, LED and more
  • Knowledge about legislation and health – safety protocols for European touring live shows
  • Large European network within the technical production and running of live shows
  • Experience in working with CAD
  • Professional fluency in English. Additional Dutch, German and / or French are a plus
  • Skills to communicate with various stakeholders (creative, production and technical), working collaboratively and willing to be hands-on.
  • Skills to be solution-focused, identifying problems and proactively presenting of solutions
  • Able to work on location at our head office in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands for at least 60% of your work week
