Valentina Marchei (ITA)

Valentina Marchei was born in Milan, Italy, and started ice skating at the age of seven. Before that, Valentina practiced artistic gymnastics and roller skating. Her first figure-skating coach didn’t want her in the group of kids – she thought it was too late for her to start a competitive career in figure skating. Valentina quickly caught up and became the leader of the group.

Valentina has always had a strong and competitive character – it’s a family trait. Her father Marco was a world class long-distance runner who competed at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and in Los Angeles in 1984.

At the age of 12, she won her first junior title in figure skating in the ladies’ event. Valentina also won five senior titles between 2004 and 2014. At the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi (Russia) in 2014, she came eleventh in the ladies’ competition and fourth in the team event with the Italian team. In July 2014, she switched to pairs, partnering with Ondrej Hotarek. Amazingly, just a few months later, they won the Italian Nationals and finished fourth at the European Championships in Stockholm.

At the last Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (South Korea), Marchei and Hotarek broke the Italian record three times, finishing fourth in the team event and sixth in the pairs competition. In her career, Valentina has competed in 15 European championships and 11 World championships. Valentina is also a member of the sports group of the Italian Air Force.

This is her first experience with Holiday on Ice and she’s very excited to be a part of this spectacular production.

A world-class figure skater hailing from Los Angeles, California, Tippy Packard Yu holds the record of being a three-time Hong Kong Champion and World Figure Skating competitor. When she was ten years old, she went to her first U.S. National Championships. Throughout her career she has participated in various U.S. Nationals and international competitions.

Starting her figure skating career in Los Angeles, despite that being a very odd place to start ice skating, she followed her dreams with the support of her family and friends. Ever since she was a little girl, she would walk around on tiptoes, dancing and pretending she was floating in the air. She was very clumsy because her ambitions and movements progressed faster than her feet, but ironically enough when her dad put her first pair of skates on her feet, they were finally able to catch up with the rest of her.

After she retired from competitive figure skating, she made her debut in ice shows with ‘Happiness is Snoopy’, a Woodstock Ice Production. A few years later, she started working for Willy Bietak on Royal Caribbean cruise ships as Female Principle and Ice Company Manager, where she had the opportunity to perform in 39 different countries.

She also has more than ten years’ coaching experience and enjoys training the next generation of figure skaters back home in sunny California.

Now performing as the Asian Beauty, Female Principle in JUBILEE, it will be her debut with ’Holiday on Ice’. She is delighted to bring her magic onto the ice for the spectacular 75th Anniversary production.

Sasha first tried figure skating at the age of five. After a number of years, however, the professional sports groups in his home town closed due to problems with ice time at the rink he used for training, and ice skating became just a hobby.

After a while, he began to feel he was not fulfilling his potential in the sport and he decided to explore the world of shows. He performed in productions such as Stage Entertainment (Three Musketeers), World on Ice (Popelka), the Christmas show at the PortAventura theme park, and the Holiday on Ice show Believe.

Besides ice skating, Sasha is a master of other branches of the performing arts including acrobatics, juggling, and fire performance, which he combines with his skating in many of his shows.

Timofey started ice skating when he was five years old. At the age of 15, he was awarded the title of Master of Sport of Russia, and he decided to fully focus on ice skating, moving to St. Petersburg to continue his skating career. He joined the St. Petersburg team, competing at a national level. At the age of 20, he decided to start coaching and choreographing, and at the age of 22, he started performing in shows.
Since 2012, Timofey has performed as a member of ensembles and as the principal skater in many ice shows around the world, including Holiday on Ice, Hot Ice, and Illusion on Ice. The 75th Jubilee production is his fifth year and fourth production with Holiday on Ice.

Performing in ice shows, especially in Holiday on Ice, has given him a new perspective on ice skating; ice shows allow skaters to explore their full potential as an artist. He has therefore decided that ice skating is the only career he wants at present.

Julia Polowy (CAN)

Joining us from Canada, Julia Polowy started her skating career at 18 months old on an outdoor rink that her father made, and since then has fallen in love with the sport. She started skating locally in her small community of Porcupine, Ontario, and enrolled in the Skate Canada programme. Julia travelled to Barrie, Ontario, to attend the Mariposa International School of Skating for eight summers, living with her family in a motorhome before making the move to skate all year round at 15 years old. In Barrie, she trained a minimum of three hours a day on weekdays plus off-ice training and dance which resulted in her earning five Skate Canada Gold Medals in the Freeskate, Skills, Dance, Interpretive, and Pairs Interpretive categories.

At 17 years old, she decided to pursue synchronized skating with Team Nexxice where she represented Canada at the 2018 World Junior Synchronized Figure Skating Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Julia has also devoted a great deal of time to studio dance in order to complement her skating.

Since the age of three, Julia has experienced many genres of performance including Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Tap, and Hip Hop. Broadening her horizons has always been important to Julia as she has become an accomplished track and field athlete (being a provincial javelin medallist) and power skating instructor at Mariposa, and also participated in the Canadian National Exhibition Rising Star singing competition.

Julia is looking forward to performing with Holiday on Ice and to sharing her love of dance and ice skating!
